Squall by Andrew Wyeth |
Eye on the horizon
face to the freshening breeze
all senses alert
weather coming.
Standing at the window
coffee mug in hand
considering the day
whether in or out.
Clouds building
pressure dropping
headache building behind the eyes
change is coming.
Weather moving in
carried on a shift in the wind
shut all the doors and windows
Weathered in.

Yes, I know that knowing. Batten down the hatches. Well done.
ReplyDeleteYes, and we in this area experienced exactly that...
ReplyDeleteStand by for squalls, eh? Nice one.
ReplyDeleteI can feel the sea air in my hair...
ReplyDeletewe're miles from the sea, but the southern winds bring them in with a vengance! Well done!
ReplyDeleteReal.
ReplyDeleteI love that your poem lies in the mode of "consideration" and for that reason has a cloudy mystique that surrounds the essence of your words. Brilliant, Jacqui. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI wish this wasn't so true
ReplyDeleteI like the change in the air when a storm is coming.
ReplyDeleteThis is meaningful on many levels.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
=)
The effect builds slowly but relentlessly -- like the storm. Impressive.
ReplyDeleteI love how the way you can feel, sense the change in the weather...

So very lovely- and it does remind us when we wonder in or out- all sides of that decision!

Whether we live by sea or land, we all do this. :)
Mmm, I can feel the breeze. I'm glad my door shuts tightly when the weather comes!
