Woman at Door by Daniel Murtagh Prompt by Tess Kincaid at the Mag |
The Other Woman
Waiting again
Another wasted day of want
Knowing he will not come
after dark
He belongs to them.
They get the holidays
Their birthdays
All the mutual friends
at the door
She gets the waiting.
Again
He did not come
Couldn't call
the empty bed
She's the other one.
Waiting
Willing to accept
those brief moments
of love
Before he goes home to her.

ReplyDeleteJust saw "The Apartment" on TCM...
ReplyDeletepoor little stuck girl
ReplyDeleteIt's a wait that goes on forever unless the one who waits wakes up and smells the coffee.
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame she wastes her beauty, her essence on a cad!!
ReplyDeleteat some point I hope she realizes it's a waiting game she will not win.
ReplyDeleteWell done!
There is another option. She wins and realizes it isn't what she wants.
DeleteOh! The pain! Great angle. I loved hearing it from her perspective.
ReplyDeleteOh yes the painfull of love of sharing one man! This is an old sad song, for many a sad, lonely woman- (clearly written across her face!) but your version makes it ring with flair!
ReplyDeleteYou are right. Very often, Jacqui Binford Bell, the reality of his character would not make him the ideal life paartner!
ReplyDeleteBut how lovely she looks....
Sad words of the waiting-game. Well done.
ReplyDeleteAnna :o]
That is truly lovely.
