Wind of History by Jacek Yerka Prompt provided by The Mag |
Mired
Victim of mud
and history
unable to move forward
or reverse
stuck.
Progress
slip sliding away
in the leavings of past snows
squishy oozing
mud.
Swallowing
our hopes for a haven
snatching from our plans
victory over winter
mired in dreams of spring.

Nice.
ReplyDeleteLoved the title and the first line best.
Strong, imaginative take on the prompt...
ReplyDeleteWell done.
ReplyDeleteWe are starting to feel those stirrings...the first inkling of spring. I'm proud to say I visited the The Four Corners one time. Even though I was only sixteen, I remember it well.
ReplyDeleteHistory often does "mire" things down, often making one feel trapped. Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteThis is really good!
ReplyDeleteAda might like a mud bath, come to think of it...
