Magpie Tales - A long way come

So Long

From here
to there
And back again.

A long way
So very long the trip
To here.

So much further
to stay
or go.

She reached out
I looked back
there I laid broken.

Oh it was going to hurt
to return
but I knew I must.

I had so much further
to go
yet.

  4. To me this feels like the journey from life to death. Someone there waiting, but you choose to go back to finish business here in this world. What I very moving write. Oh, pun not intended.

  5. I based this on a near death experience I had, Other Mary. I was severely injured in a skiing accident. This woman standing in the light in the trees seemed very familiar.

  7. This is very cool, especially the bounce between stanzas of forwards, backwards, evocative of a turning head. It worked very well.

  11. Oh, yes - your verse speaks to me loud and clear. And aren't we all in that journey from/to here/there? Sometimes too long, then perhaps, too futile. And never knowing if it's worth it. I'm glad there was someone to reach out, though.
