Bridges

Yellow Bridge Road
Original photograph by J. Binford-Bell

Farewell

I was so very good
At saying goodbye
Farewell
Crossing that bridge
And gone.

Always the first
To call it
Quits
Hit the road
See Ya!

Years of experience
Of packing up
Waving
Moving on
The end.

So why can't I say it now
Good Bye
I know you left
Let go!

It's been a year since
Your departure
And still I cling
To Memory
Death.

You crossed that bridge
Before me
But you never let me know
You were leaving
You never said
Goodbye.

But even worse
You never let me say it either
Adios
Mi Amigo.

  4. Hello.
So touching. It's the never having the chance to say goodbye that hurts the most.
You penned this beautifully. Liked your image too.

    Thanks for sharing.

  5. Dear Jacqui Binford-Bell

Its very touching and from the title itself, you set me up to be emotional...
Your courage to take this farewell up in words is good and I like the way you have shared yourself... and your deepest feeling in words...

I could relate to your lines...
    "And still I cling
    To Memory
    Death"

Yes it hurts a lot and pains forever when you are denied a chance to say good bye...

  7. It is hard to say it to say goodbye even though you know they have left and are gone forever. It is hard to say goodbye then it makes it so final in the end nothing left to hope for this is what I think

  8. Powerful words reach to my core ... unexpected loss is devastating ... difficult for closure, but I believe we will unite with our loved ones when we finally cross the bridge!

  12. Well-done! I enjoyed both the picture and the poem. The bridge almost looks like piano keys: I imagined him playing a farewell tune as he crossed over.

  13. It is difficult to let go when the other hasn't heard that which is left & you want to say.

So why can't I say it now
    Good Bye
    I know you left
    Let go!

Hmmmm, non reciprocated good -bye, Kind of like non reciprocated love, I guess.

    Nicely penned poem. Thanks

  16. Thank you for reminding us all to stop and think carefully before cvrossing that bridge, especially without saying "Goodbye" first. :o)
