The Women Gather

Resurrection Reunion by Stanley Spenser
Visual prompt by The Mag: 192

The women gather
their daughters in tow
festooned in Sunday finery.
Toting baskets
for a picnic on the graves.

The women gather
with the young girls to teach
the honoring of their ancestors.
They toil to clean
the graves of those from the past.

The women gather
with the next priestesses to be
to celebrate their mothers.
They dance
as all earth mothers who came before.
