The Blessing Way

The Blessing Way by J. Binford-Bell

The Blessing Way

Calling forth
the spirits of canyons
and streams
birds in flight
sheep and shepherdesses.

The setting sun
leading the way
with ravens as honor guard
our souls follow
into the night.

Moving steadily
like the river to the sea
we all march toward
our destiny
seeking grace.

A cosmic calling
of infinite scope
beyond our knowing
but we go
the Blessing Way.

  1. Very nice piece. I love your painting, it's really exceptional. The verse mirrors the piece and works with it from either direction, either the painting inspired the verse, or the verse inspired the painting. I think that's what we should strive for when using a prompt, to make it look as if the inspiration is two fold. Love the lines here in the verse, the opening stanza, and the moving steadily stanza, both struck me as exceptionally strong. Thanks

  2. Thank you for the very thoughtful comment and very kind words.

The painting came first. I am in the process of putting poems to my paintings and some of my more creative photographs. My goal is to put them together in a book to sell at my studio/gallery.
